A residential treatment facility built specifically for fire service members, not a general rehab that happens to take first responders. Located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Treats PTSD, substance use, addiction, anxiety, and depression in professional fire service members, using evidence-based approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), alongside peer support from others who've done the job. I have not personally been a patient here, so I can't speak to it from experience the way I can with Ambio, but it's a real, established, fire-service-specific facility and worth knowing about regardless of what path you end up choosing. Separate from the Center of Excellence, the IAFF Foundation focuses on behavioral health education and peer support, including sending trained peer support teams to departments after a traumatic incident.
Provides behavioral health awareness training and can deploy peer support after a department goes through something traumatic. This is the same kind of peer support model that started my own path, someone who's done the job, trained to actually listen and help you find the right resource, not just a hotline reading off a script.
